Baguio in October 2026: Jacket Mornings and a Calmer Burnham Lake

After rainy August and September, October has started colder and drier in my experience. Here are my local notes on jackets, morning sunshine, and a slow walk around Burnham's renovated lake.

Baguio in October 2026: Jacket Mornings and a Calmer Burnham Lake

At the start of October, Baguio feels like it has traded some of the rain for colder mornings. August and September brought a lot of wet days here; now I am seeing drier weather, and our bookings are already better than they were in August. I expect more people to come up when they can walk around comfortably, but this is my local read at the beginning of the month, not a promise that every October day will stay dry. I am Oliver. I host at Valencia VOS Baguio Transient House with my family. My advice for this October is simple: bring a jacket, make time for a morning walk, and see Burnham Lake at your own pace. The lake looks refreshed and more photogenic now, but to me it still feels like the familiar old Burnham Park—with a more relaxing view.

October is starting with a different kind of Baguio day

August and September were rainy from what I saw around the city. As October begins, the rain has eased for now, the air feels colder, and guests seem more ready to visit. At our place, bookings are better so far than they were in August. I cannot tie that change to one specific event or one guest story; I can only tell you what I am seeing from the front desk.

If you want the day-by-day context, I wrote about Baguio's first dry day after the rainy August. A good stretch of weather is a reason to plan a walk, not a guarantee for the whole month. Check the forecast again before you leave your room.

Pro Tip

Think of this as an early-October update from a local host, not a weather forecast for every date.

Bring the jacket before you head out

The first thing I would prepare is a jacket. October mornings can feel very cold here, even when the sky is brighter than it was during the wet weeks. Wear something comfortable for walking, and bring a layer you can keep on when the air feels cold.

You do not need to cancel an outdoor plan just because Baguio is cold. For me, that cool air is part of why a slow walk feels good. I would still keep an umbrella or light rain layer in your bag if the forecast calls for it; one dry morning does not settle the weather for the rest of the day.

The renovated lake feels fresh, but still like Burnham

Burnham Lake reopened after its renovation on September 1, 2026. Now that I have seen it, my honest reaction is simple: the view is very good, the lake is more Instagrammable, and the whole place feels relaxing. It is still the old Burnham I know; the refreshed lake just gives you a nicer view to pause for and photograph.

I shared what I saw at Burnham Lake on its opening morning, when I walked the loop before the day got busy. This October, I would go back for the lake itself and the unhurried feeling around it, not because you need a packed itinerary to enjoy the park.

I like the morning walk best

Morning is my pick. You get a chance to enjoy the day while the light is good, and the cold air makes a steady walk feel refreshing. I call that my morning Vitamin D time. I am talking about enjoying a little sunshine outdoors, not promising a health result.

Start with an easy loop around the lake, take a few photos, and sit for a while if you want. You do not have to rush straight to another attraction. If you want a longer walk, see my Burnham Park walking-loop guide and choose the distance that suits your group.

Enjoy the central sights on foot, then plan transport for farther stops

A dry day makes it easier to walk around the central part of Baguio. From Valencia VOS, it is about a three-minute walk to SM Baguio and Session Road, and roughly nine to ten minutes on foot to Burnham Park. WiFi, a hot-and-cold shower, and fresh towels are available for guests; private CR and Smart TV are in selected rooms.

Not every tourist spot is close enough to walk to from downtown, so group farther places together and allow time for a jeepney or taxi ride. If your main plan is Burnham, Session Road, and SM, staying near the center can save you repeated short trips. If you are choosing a room farther out, include transport in your budget too.

A better booking month is not a reason to skip the details

I am seeing more bookings now than in August, and I think the colder, drier start is making Baguio attractive again. If your dates are fixed, ask the host for the rate and availability for those exact dates before you set the rest of your budget. If walking is a priority, compare the room price with how often you expect to take a jeepney or taxi.

My quick October checklist before you set out

1

Bring a jacket for the cold morning air.

2

Check the day's forecast before deciding how long to stay outdoors. October has started drier here, but I would not plan as if rain is impossible.

3

Give yourself time for Burnham Lake in the morning. The view is worth a slower lap, and you can decide on more stops after you see how the day feels.

4

Confirm your room rate and availability for your actual dates, especially if you are coming on a weekend or holiday.

The October Baguio I would plan for

Come ready for cold air, take a jacket, and enjoy the clear stretches when they arrive. My favorite version of the day is simple: a quiet morning at Burnham Lake, a walk through the central area, then a warm shower and a rest before deciding what is next. It is not a promise of perfect weather. It is the kind of October day I hope you get—and the kind I would plan around if you were visiting my city.
